Judi McEnvoy, President of the Gulf to Lakes Pilot Club of Citrus County, stopped by our office to drop off $650 in Walmart gift cards to help us meet the needs of the community. Thank you for helping us keep the 53 food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens we serve stocked as the demand for food grows!
The COVID-19 crisis has forced businesses to close, events to be postponed and caused everyday activities to come to a complete halt. As a result, food pantries and other community resources are facing an unprecedented demand as people who have never asked for assistance before now find themselves in need.
The Community Food Bank (CFB) is working hard to meet this growing need. We have been able to keep the 50+ food agencies we serve fully stocked thanks to corporate and individual donations as well as partnerships with Feeding Tampa Bay, Citrus County EOC and FEMA, just to name a few.
If you are facing a furlough or layoff, you can count on the CFB – the largest food provider in Citrus County – to keep your nearest food agency stocked and ready to serve you. While this assistance may help ease your food bill, there are also other monthly expenses you may be able to temporarily reduce.
Many companies, banks and creditors are working with their customers during this difficult and unforeseen crisis. Now is the time to ask if you can postpone making payments or set up a reduced payment or service plan. Consider contacting the following to explain your situation and see how they can help:

We’ve all been taken by surprise by the coronavirus (COVID-19). Many people who have been laid off or furloughed are now finding it difficult to make ends meet. The Community Food Bank (CFB) is committed to keeping the more than 50 local food agencies (shelters, ministries, food pantries, etc.) we serve fully stocked and ready to serve those in need throughout our community.

We understand that many businesses are dealing with challenges as a result of COVID-19. The CFB is truly fortunate and grateful that the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, Wawa and Sam’s Club have stepped up to the plate to help us help the community. We couldn’t do it without your generous support!
Special thank you to the Black Diamond Foundation for donating $20,000 toward a new 2020 International Commercial Refrigerated truck with a 12 pallet capacity!
This new truck will help distribute an additional 21,000 pounds of food per month (14,000 meals) to local food pantries and ministries. Ensuring our agencies have access to fresh, quality food is more important than ever to accommodate the growing need as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Community Food Bank (CFB) will be raising funds to offset the $115,000 debt on the truck which has been recently added to our distribution fleet. We currently have three refrigerated distribution trucks in service. Each truck travels approximately 600 miles every week to pick-up and deliver an average of 10,000 pounds of food to the 50+ agencies we serve. The newest of the fleet replaced a 2011 truck that accumulated more than 250,000 miles serving the CFB’s mission.
We are extremely grateful to the Black Diamond Foundation for their very generous donation that will help us address the growing needs throughout our community.
Special thank you to Kings Bay Rotary in Crystal River for their generous $1500 donation! Executive Director Barbara Sprague had the opportunity to speak to this esteemed group of seasoned public servants and business leaders. She outlined the mission, vision and impact of the Community Food Bank of Citrus County and they were extremely thankful for the progress we are making in the fight against hunger throughout Citrus County.

We are always grateful when members of our community take it upon themselves to raise money for the Community Food Bank of Citrus County. Special thank you to the Last Chance Band, a local classic rock and country band. They raised $788 during a recent performance at Walden Woods South Clubhouse. We sincerely appreciate this great group of gentlemen and all the people who donated!

The Winn Dixie at 3565 North Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills is helping the Community Food Bank (CFB) start the new year off right! During the month of January, the store will donate $1.00 to the CFB for each reusable food bag that is purchased at their store. The bags are located at various registers and at the reusable bag rack.
If you have not seen or used these bags, they are really great. They not only make it easier to carry groceries, but they come in handy year-round. Take them to the beach, use them on road trips, send the kids to school with them, take them to work – the possibilities are endless!
This promotion to benefit the CFB begins January 1, 2020 and concludes January 31, 2020, so don’t forget to stop by and pick up a bag or two. As always, we appreciate your continued support!
Special thank you to all who participated in the Black Diamond Foundation’s challenge to donate $3000 to the Thanksgiving Feeding Alliance (TGFA). As a result, hundreds of families in need were able to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with all the fixings! The Community Food Bank is proud to be part of this effort each year.

We were happy to welcome Luis Marin, District 3 Citrus County Commission candidate and Robert Winsler of Winsler Consulting & Advocacy to our office and warehouse last week. They toured the food bank to learn about our function, purpose and mission and gained a comprehensive understanding of additional needs that must be addressed. Thank you, gentlemen, for taking time out of your busy schedule to witness first-hand how we are working to end hunger and nourish hope!
Citrus Memorial Hospital donated 126 turkeys to the Community Food Bank (CFB), just in time for Thanksgiving! Special thank you to Citrus Memorial Hospital and the employees that donated a holiday turkey to the CFB to ensure a hungry family can enjoy a hearty Thanksgiving dinner.
