“The holidays are especially difficult for those affected by hunger,” says Barbara Sprague, Executive Director of the CFB. “No one should go without a holiday meal. Our goal is to ensure everyone enjoys a holiday meal to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukkah, and to start off the new year.”

The 50+ agencies served by the CFB provide meals to approximately 70,000 people each month. One meal equates to one pound of food. The CFB needs to collect or purchase through monetary donations at least 210,000 pounds of food for holiday meals.

“It’s a lofty goal, but we live in a community of generous individuals and businesses who always step up to the plate to help their neighbors in need,” says Sprague. “Picking up a few extra food items each time you go to the store can make a huge impact and put smiles on the faces of those who otherwise would not be able to enjoy a holiday meal.”
